Schools' Uniforms By Yussef Khateeb

School Uniforms
School uniforms have many advantages and disadvantages. It depends on what people think about it. They have their own point of view; therefore, we have many different opinions. Some people think that uniforms are not really for students because it prevents them from expressing themselves. It can make them uncomfortable. Wearing school uniforms is good because it distinguishes students from other people.
First of all, school uniforms help students be distinct from other people. We can identify who are students or not at school or even outside it if they are wearing uniforms. Moreover, students who are wearing uniforms can help many people. For instance, they have many discounts or benefits from others.
Second, school uniforms make students feel equal. The worst thing could happen at school is that if you identify who are the rich students and who are not, you will treat them different. Though you didn’t realize that! Then poor students who know your unkind behaviors may feel uncomfortable, miserable and disappointed. But if students required to wear school uniforms, you won’t recognize who is rich and who is poor. Everybody will give them opportunities equally.
Finally, school uniforms also make students proud of their school. For example, if there is a meeting and they require to connect with students from many different schools, wearing school uniforms help students more confident, and they participate in activities with high efforts to demonstrate their school is good. Furthermore, students who are wearing school uniforms also feel proud of their school.
In conclusion, uniforms do not only help students to be distinct from other people, to be more beautiful, but also to make them feel equal to other students. Therefore, in my opinion, I think school uniforms should be required.

An Article About Family Values by Rafah Khateeb

Family: The Spring of Values
As society becomes more technologically advanced, families are forgetting their values. Our family values help us shape our personalities, and losing them doesn’t only make us arid, but deteriorates our communities sharply. These values are moral, recreational, and working values. Abiding them will effortless make the connections between family members stronger.
Families should definitely have moral values, in light of fact that they provide the foundation from which you make decisions. These can be expressed by honesty, being patient, and trustworthy. Those create profound feelings that will never break.
Never mess up with recreational values, because they do a great impact in fortressing closeness and creating memories. They also improve social skills, so take vacations together, encourage each other, and every once in a while, make some hot chocolate, and play a board game in a quiet dreamy night, all together.
By definition, working values are those meant with socializing and getting used to the jobs given through work and school, accomplish this point by cooperating together-even when doing easy tasks. Plus, helping your family members when they’re in need, meets the point.
Sitting down as a family and setting values can seem daunting, but you’ll never realize its importance until you do it, it will positively reflect morally, recreationally, and work-wise. Finally; most importantly, never forget to always love your family, and keep in mind how much they mean to you. <3

Schools' Uniforms by Rayan Janbein

Schools' Uniforms
Are you with wearing uniforms to school? I think wearing uniforms is great. School uniforms are good for some students and bad for others.

The good things about wearing uniforms are: making all students the same, students won’t have problems picking clothes, shows what school we belong to, and if you go to a school trip teacher won’t have problems finding us.

The bad thing about wearing uniforms are: if the uniform is in the laundry you will get in trouble, and big students won’t feel that they are better than the younger students because they are wearing the same.

I am with wearing uniforms. I wish that students that think that wearing a uniform is a bad idea will change his/ her mind.

Students' Rights by Mariam Nassereddin

 Students' Rights
Do you know that every person has rights? As a student I conclude that I have to call for my rights. Students have a lot of rights but I classified the important rights into two: “School Rights" and "Home Rights".
On the first hand, "School Rights" for example we need a good teaching, to make our teaching god we need genius teachers, books that are full with important information. Also, we need school supplies, like: pencils, pens, eraser and correction pens.
Maybe we can classify Subjects into 2:"Main Subjects" and "Science Subject”. So "Main Subjects" are English and Arabic languages, while "Science Subjects" are Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are a lot of schools that don't have all of these subjects. Although we want to learn in a Safe Place.
On the other hand, "Home Rights" example friends, I need my friends to stand to my side, maybe when someone bullies me, they can help. Friends light my way when I'm in darkness. Even they can help you when your family is on your opposite side. Families are one of the important students’ rights because there are a lot of student that have families that do not care, mostly when they have a young sibling, when parents do that their kids will feel lonely and sad. Sometimes their friend can help them, and let them forget while who don't have friends will be influenced on the kids.
On day students are going to grow up and they need these rights maybe that will help them in the future to complete a hood life, maybe they will learn from the last time they call for their rights, if they don't call for their rights now they will never call for it anymore.

Family Values by Rana Debian

Family Values

When raising a child, one is taught values by their families that they feel are important for their child to have. I believe that family values consist of certain actions and qualities that are important to a family to uphold. Values that are important in my family are honesty, and to have respect for others. Each of these qualities are equally important in my life. They played a big role into making me the person I am now.

Growing up in a family taught me that honesty is the best policy. When I would get into trouble as a child I would often try to lie to lie to my mom thinking that would save me from being punished. I soon learned that lying would only get me into more trouble than I was already. Honesty had made my family gain my trust.

Respect is an important value to be taught when growing up. Through the years, I had learned that in order to learn anything you must have respect for others. I have learned many valuable lessons from listening to my grandmother. She has told me many of her experiences, which has made me a better person. Having respect for people has allowed me to be more open minded and see qualities in people that most would not.

All values that families instill in their children are important. It would show the strength of the family and for sure makes it a ruled family. Which is good because their children would teach their family in the future what they have learned.

Books are Best Friends

We do so many activities for entertainment, but one is really missing a lot out on a lot if he/she doesn’t read. Reading is one of the best habits one can inculcate since it helps you relax, is a source of entertainment, and improves your language.

Creating a bedtime ritual of reading makes it a lot easier to sleep. That’s why it’s better to turn some pages instead of staring at a screen before switching off the light.

Another example on how reading relaxes you, is that it takes you away from the stresses of everyday world and makes you explore the amazing worlds in books. For example, if you just came from a long day at work, you can open a book and travel through its events, places, and times.

Add to that, reading is a great way of entertainment. Its much cheaper than going to the theater or many other forms of entertainment. You can read for free in public libraries! Why would you waste your time on pricy entertainment activities when you can benefit from reading?

Reading also enriches one’s language. The more you read, the more words you are exposed to, the more your vocabulary expands. Plus, reading has a huge impact on one’s writing. For instance, if the book’s author uses similes and metaphors, you’ll find yourself automatically using similes and metaphors in your own writing.

When you develop the habit of reading, you are relaxing, entertaining yourself, and helping your language at the same time! Reading is an experience of seeing a whole new world!

Nobody Cares About Me!

Jana Farhat
Grade 8
One early morning, I woke up to my stomach growling. I got up from the thin mattress I slept on and I wandered towards the kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately, all I found was some dry bread. Then I got ready for school and left our tiny apartment. While I was walking to school, a few tears came down my face because I knew today was going to be miserable.
After walking 4 km, I finally arrived. While I was directing myself to my classroom, a kid came up to me and punched me in the stomach because he found my shoes awful. I was used to keeping the pain in, so I didn't tell the teachers, anyways they wouldn't have done anything. I entered my classroom and I sat in my spot. I looked into my desk and found a note, it said that I should disappear because no one liked me, and my  outfit was disgusting. I pretended I was fine. The lunch bell rang, I went and hid in the bathroom stall like usual, but I was starving since I hadn't eaten in more than 2 days. I went to the garbage can where the cafeteria throws out the leftover food and I started digging. I found some crushed rice and I jammed it into my mouth when I turned around and found more than 50 people taking pictures of me and laughing. Then Aliyah shouts “you are such an embarrassment to this school, you’re ugly and nobody will ever care for you, not even your parents!”
I couldn't take it anymore, I ran and ran until I felt like I was going to faint. I looked around, I saw nothing. I had no clue where I was, I was lost but like Aliyah said, nobody cares anyways.
